TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT SECTION
TRAFFIC SECTION MISSION STATEMENT
The primary mission of the Traffic Division is to investigate motor vehicle
collisions in unincorporated Harris County. Investigators are responsible for
the investigation of fatal crashes, severe crashes where Life Flight responds
and collisions involving fleet vehicles belonging to the Harris County Sheriff’s
Office. When not actively involved in at scene or follow up investigation,
deputies conduct traffic law enforcement. Our goal is to promote safety on our
highways and roadways through fair, impartial and consistent enforcement of the
traffic laws of the State of Texas.
The Traffic Division is composed of the following entities: the accident
investigation unit, the motorcycle unit, the Towing and Storage Unit and the
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
Created in 1985,
the Traffic Enforcement Division primary duty is collision
investigation. Investigators are responsible for the investigation
of fatal crashes, severe crashes where LifeFlight responds,
and collisions involving fleet vehicles belonging to the Harris
County Sheriff's Office. When not actively involved in at-scene
or follow-up investigation, deputies conduct traffic law enforcement.
