Mission Statement
The Harris County Sheriff's Office
Sex Crime Unit is committed to the pursuit of excellence.
A thorough and timely investigation of sex crimes reported
to the Harris County Sheriff's Office will be conducted.
At all times investigations will conform to the laws and constitution
of the State of Texas and the United States.
The Sex Crimes Unit is an investigative unit within the Interpersonal
Violence Division of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
This division investigates adult sexual assault cases where
the victim is 17 or older, and also cases in which the victim
is 15 - 16 years of age and the suspect is not a family member.
The Sex Crimes Unit is responsible for investigating the
following types of offenses:
- Sexual Assault/Aggravated Sexual Assault
- Attempted Sexual Assault
- Indecent Exposure
- Public Lewdness
- Burglary with Intent to Commit Sexual Assault
Cases referred to the Sex Crimes Unit are assigned to a Detective
who will contact the complainant to schedule any appointments
or interviews necessary to conduct the criminal investigation.
