Auto Theft Task Force at Houston Texans Home Games

9/14/2007

Sheriff Tommy Thomas is proud to announce that the Harris County Sheriff’s Office “Auto Theft Task Force” will join the Houston Texan pre-game celebration at each home game during the 2007-2008 season. A crime prevention and awareness booth will be located near the Go Texan Store at Budweiser Plaza and will be open during tailgate party festivities until kickoff. This endeavor is a joint effort with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Auto Burglary Theft Prevention Authority (A.B.T.P.A.). Information relating to auto theft and burglary of motor vehicles, H.E.A.T. registration and assorted give-a-ways will be distributed to the fans. H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) is a state funded program which allows registered vehicles to be stopped by law enforcement between the hours of 1:00 A.M. and 5:00 A.M. to ensure that the vehicle is being driven by registered drivers. This program will promote public awareness and proactive measures that citizens can take to protect their vehicles from theft and burglary. Contact Deputy Sandy Johnson for further information, 281-446-4399.
