Training Section
Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Detention Training Section is enhancing
the professionalism of the Harris County Sheriff's Office by
providing ongoing training and education to its staff members.
Entry-level trainees begin their training experience in a three
week Basic County Corrections Course that covers all aspects
of a detention officer's duties. All peace officers and detention
officers are then encouraged to participate in a wide variety
of courses ranging from legislatively mandated law enforcement
classes to CPR and Sign Language. The Training Section is committed
to excellence and instilling these values throughout the department.
