The mission of the Harris County Sheriff's Report Section
is to provide professional, courteous, and efficient service
to the citizens of Harris County, as well as to other governmental
agencies.
Report Section Responsibilities
The Harris County Sheriff's Report Section is responsible
for the development and production of the Uniform Crime Report
(UCR), entry, modification, cancellation and validation of
items entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
and the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC), providing public
release offense reports and location/grid searches to the
general public, providing international travel letters, providing
other government agencies with copies of offense reports for
official purposes, and police record checks to military recruiters.
Address and Business Hours
The Harris County Sheriff's Report Section is located
at the corner of 601 Lockwood Drive and Crites Street, Houston,
Texas 77011, 2nd floor (keymap 494 P). Normal business hours
are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding
County holidays. Request for Public Information is available to
the public during normal business hours. If you appear in
person, your request will be processed immediately and payment
is due upon receipt.
If you request the information by mail, please allow up to
10 business days for delivery. You will be notified of the

email information back to the requestor. We accept cash, business

LOCATION SEARCH/CALLS FOR SERVICE
This report is an actual list of the calls for police service
regarding a specific address or listed block numbers.
- Provide an exact address or series of block numbers and
street name, such as 7910 Will Clayton Parkway or the 7900
through 8900 blocks of Will Clayton Parkway.
- Designate a date range, such as January 1, 2000 to December
31, 2000. Research can only be performed one year at a time.
- Cost is based on CPU minutes.
GRID SEARCH/CALLS FOR SERVICE
This report is an actual list of the calls for police service
from a specific key map page.
- Provide an exact key map page and/or grid alpha. (Houston/Harris
County key maps only.)
- Designate a date range, such as January 1, 2000 to December
31, 2000. Research can only be performed one year at a time.
- Cost is based on CPU minutes.
PUBLIC RELEASE OF AN INCIDENT/OFFENSE
REPORT
This is the investigative report prepared by the deputy concerning
the incident/criminal offense. Public release offense reports
contain a brief summary of the crime, the complainant's name
and address, and the names of the responding/investigating
deputies. Suspect information is not listed.
- Provide the incident/offense report number.
- If you do not have the report number, provide the exact
location, date of the incident/offense and time.
- If you do not have the report number or location, provide
the names of person(s) involved in the incident and their
dates of birth, race, and sex, if possible.
- The cost of the report is 10¢ per page.
ACCIDENT REPORTS
Accident reports are maintained at the Sheriff's Substations
covering the geographical location where the accident occurred.

POLICE RECORD CHECKS FOR MILITARY
RECRUITERS
This service is provided to military recruiters. A research
is performed by utilizing the Justice Information Management
System (JIMS).
- Military recruiters must submit the Police Record Check
form in person at the Report Section, between the hours
of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding
County holidays. We do not accept facsimile requests unless
out of county or out of state.
- No cost for this service.
OTHER POLICE RECORD CHECKS
This service is provided to other governmental agencies.
A research is performed by utilizing the Justice Information
Management System (JIMS).
- Agencies may submit the appropriate forms in person or
by facsimile to 713. 921.8760.
- Researched information will be mailed or faxed back to
the requesting agency.
- No cost for this service.

information that is confidential.
